About
Tina Talim is running to be Retained as District Court Judge, Dept. 14
My name is Tina Talim and I have the privilege of serving as your District Court Department 14 judge. I was appointed to the bench by Governor Joe Lombardo in June 2024 and am now running to retain my seat. During my time on the bench, I have presided over hundreds of civil litigation cases, including hearing trials, evidentiary hearings, and motions argument. I am the only candidate for District Court Department 14 who has this critical judicial experience and the necessary experience in both civil and criminal law.
Before taking the bench, I was a 20 year veteran trial attorney. I started my career in civil litigation then spent 19 years representing the people of the state of Nevada as a criminal prosecutor with the Clark County District Attorney’s Office. During my tenure there, I tried dozens of felony cases, including murder, sexual assaults, crimes against children, drug trafficking, and robbery. I was quickly promoted to the role of “Chief Deputy District Attorney” and was tasked with the prosecution of national and international drug trafficking cartels. During my career, I prosecuted more drug trafficking organizations than any other prosecutor in the state of Nevada, with the majority of my cases having national and international consequences. In response to the growing number of youth overdose deaths caused by fentanyl, I began charging drug dealers with murder for selling fentanyl when it resulted in someone’s death. I supervised the prosecution of all fentanyl related overdose death cases. I worked extensively with elementary, middle, and high school students to educate them about the dangers of fentanyl.
As a supervising attorney, I mentored junior attorneys, reviewed approximately 350 felony cases a year, conducted hundreds of preliminary hearings and grand jury presentations, and prosecuted several thousand felony cases. I worked with victims of crimes to ensure justice was fairly and equally served, including by using diversion programs as an alternative to traditional punishment when appropriate.
In 2023, I was appointed by the District Attorney to lead all community outreach efforts. I worked with high schools, college institutions, law schools, and local affinity-based organizations to create pipelines between the legal profession and the youth of Clark County.
I have successfully argued before the Nevada Supreme Court and served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. I am a two-time recipient of the “Prosecutor of the Year” award (2014 and 2023). I was the first civilian to receive the Exemplary Service Award by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for my prosecution of a violent Las Vegas gang. In 2011, I received the “Outstanding Investigative Effort” award from the Office of President Barack Obama for my prosecution of Nevada’s most prolific methamphetamine drug cartel.
As a sitting judge, having 20 years of litigation experience, I continue to be fair and impartial in my decisions. I ensure timely resolution of cases while maintaining quality and due process. I continue to engage with our community and I commit to transparency, so court proceedings are accessible, and understandable, to all.
I have built my career on being fair, thoughtful in my decision-making, and treating everyone who comes before me with dignity and respect. I am the only candidate for Department 14 who has been endorsed by law enforcement, firefighters, veterans, labor unions, business unions, and the criminal and civil bars.
I am a graduate of University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and Pepperdine Caruso School of Law. Shortly after graduation from law school, I moved to Las Vegas and chose to make this community my home. I am the proud mother of twin 17-year old daughters who are in the Clark County School District.
I have dedicated my career to the service of the people of the state of Nevada. I chose to become a judge because I wanted to continue my service to this community from the bench. I am the only candidate for Department 14 who has the civil and criminal law experience necessary to keep Clark County safe and thriving. I humbly ask for your vote this election season so I can continue to serve our community and ensure Clark County remains the best place to live for all of us.
Thank you,
Judge Tina Talim
